MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTION CONTEST RULES

  1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. No purchase, requirement or payment of any consideration is necessary to enter the contest. Entrants wishing to enter the contest without an email subscription to the newsletter may do so by sending an email to info@smartdecoratingideas.com and including the following information: your name and your email address.
  2. ELIGIBILITY: Contest is open to any individual age 21 or older as of June 1, 2011 who is a legal resident of the United States. Entrants must be present in the United States or Canada at the time they enter the Contest.
  3. THE QUALIFIED ENTRY PROCESS. Entrants must send entries as required in the contest announcement in order to be eligible. Entries received after the deadline set forth in the contest announcement are ineligible, null, and void. SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM will not be responsible for and will not consider incomplete or incorrect entries. SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM is not responsible for entries that are sent but not received by SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM for any reason.
  4. DEADLINE: Entries must be must be received by the last day of every month by 11:59 p.m. EST.
  5. DRAW: Winners will be chosen randomly every month. Entrants may win the prize only once.
  6. THE PRIZE: The prize is a subscription to House Beautiful Magazine for 10 issues which has an approximate value of $15.00. If the specified prize becomes unavailable for any reason, SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM in its sole and absolute discretion may substitute a prize of like or equal value.
  7. The odds of winning the prize vary with the number of entrants. SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM estimates the odds conservatively at 1 in 30,000.
  8. The prize winner accepts to complete the following skill testing question: 7+3-1 = X?
  9. PRIZE DELIVERY: The prize will be delivered to the winner by mail according to the mailing information provided by the winner. US destinations only.
  10. LIABILITY: SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM does not endorse the views expressed in House Beautiful Magazine or any Hearst Magazines Division or the products/services they offer.
  11. RESTRICTIONS: Each entrant is eligible to participate only once, and no more than one person may participate using the same email address.
  12. DISCLAIMER: SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM and their affiliated companies are not responsible for any failure of any electronic equipment, computer transmissions and/or network connections. SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM and its affiliated companies is not responsible for any inaccuracies in information which may be used in the Contest, or for any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of entries, including data entered by contestants. SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM and its affiliated companies reserve the right in their sole and absolute discretion to terminate any contest at any time without prior notice.
  13. NOTIFICATION AND AWARDING OF PRIZE: Winner, if any, will be notified by email. If the winner does not respond to the notification within five (5) business days, another winner will be chosen. Failure to respond within the time frames listed above shall mean that the provisional winner forfeits the prize. If winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim a prize or fails to return the completed and executed Affidavit/Release as required, or if the Prize Notification is returned as undeliverable, prize will be forfeited. Non-winners will not be notified.
  14. ALTERNATE WINNER: If prize is unclaimed, an alternate winner will be selected.
  15. CONDITIONS: SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM reserves the right to condition the award of prizes upon the execution by the winner(s) of a publicity release. Notwithstanding this reserved right, entry is conclusively deemed to be permission by the entrant to use the entrant’s name (without compensation to the entrant) if the entrant is a winner to publicize the contest and otherwise, as determined by SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM, unless prohibited by law. SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM reserves the right to require the winner to execute an affidavit of eligibility as a sworn document and provide other proof of eligibility as a condition of receipt of the prize or award. By participating, a winner, except where prohibited by law, grants SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM and their affiliated companies the right to use the winner’s name, likeness, picture, portrait, hometown, voice, biographical information and written submissions and written or oral statements, for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation unless required by law.
  16. The information that you provide in connection with the Contest may be used for SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM’ internal purposes and to send you SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM’ newsletters and other information about SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM, but will not be provided to third parties for marketing purposes, except as necessary for the administration of the Contest or as required by law or legal process. If you would like your name removed from SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM’ mailing list or if you do not wish to receive SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM’ newsletter, you will be provided the option of unsubscribing according to the CAN-SPAM regulation of the United States.
  17. Entries and other submitted material become the property of SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM and will not be acknowledged or returned. SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM and those working for SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM or on the behalf of SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM, will not be responsible for lost, late, misdirected, damaged, or postage due mail or email and for Internet, computer hardware and software, phone, and other technical errors, malfunctions and delays. In the event of a dispute concerning who submitted an email entry, the entry will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized holder of the email account from which the entry is made. The “authorized account holder” is the natural person to whom an email address is assigned by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. All times and dates in these Official Rules are Eastern Standard Time.
  18. SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM reserve the right in their sole discretion to modify or cancel all or any portions of the Contest because of technical errors or malfunctions, viruses, hackers, or for other reasons that corrupt the Contest in any manner. SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM also reserve the right in their sole discretion to disqualify any entrant who fails to comply with these Official Rules, who attempts to enter the Contest in any manner or through any means other than as described in these Official Rules, or who attempts to disrupt the Contest or to circumvent any of these Official Rules.
  19. Officers, directors, representatives, and employees of SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM, their affiliates and subsidiaries, and each of their respective advertising, promotion, publicity, production, and judging agencies, and those with whom they are domiciled, are not eligible to enter. By entering, entrants agree to be bound by the decisions of the judges and these Official Rules and to comply with all federal, state, provincial and local laws and regulations. All federal, state, provincial and local taxes are each winner’s sole responsibility. The prizes will be awarded. No prize substitutions, transfers, or cash alternatives permitted except SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value at SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM’ discretion. By entering, each winner accepts all of the conditions, restrictions, requirements, and/or regulations required by SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM and also agrees to accept delivery of prize. Unless otherwise prohibited by law, acceptance of the prize constitutes permission to use winner’s name, picture, likeness, address (city and state), and biographical information for advertising and publicity purposes for SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM and for this and/or similar promotions, without compensation.
  20. Entrants agree to release and hold harmless SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM, their affiliates and subsidiaries, and each of their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, successors, and assigns, from any damage, injury, death, loss, or other liability that may arise from entrant’s participation in the Contest or the awarding, acceptance, use, or misuse of any prize. All entrants agree that United States law shall apply exclusively to the Contest and that any dispute with respect to the Contest shall be resolved in either the federal or state courts located in the State of New York.
  21. LEGAL LIMITATIONS: The contest is null and void in any jurisdiction where prohibited by law. Contest is void where prohibited, taxed or otherwise restricted.
  22. SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to terminate any contest at any time without prior notice.
  23. SMARTDECORATINGIDEAS.COM reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to alter any contest rules at any time.
